
Kinda iconic, this shot. Artist Agnes Denes in the early 1980's planted 2 acres of wheat in a vacant lot in Manhattan--Battery Park I think. Later she harvested 1,000 lbs. of wheat. I remember a few years back, some people here in Downtown L.A. used 23 acres of a vacant field near the old train tracks and planted corn. As I recall the city evicted them and bulldozed it. Was called "Not a Cornfield."
